![]() The Yukon XL has three rows of seats, and depending on the trim and options, offers 7-, 8- or 9-passenger seating. The lower SLE and SLT trims are available in 4x2 or 4x4 configuration, while all other trims – AT4, Denali and Denali Ultimate – are 4x4 only. All three engines mate to a ten-speed automatic transmission. The third choice is a 3.0L inline-six turbodiesel that makes 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Both include Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM), a fuel-saving technology that shuts down some of the cylinders when full power isn’t required. Up from that is a 6.2L V8 that makes 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The base engine is a 5.3L V8 that makes 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The Yukon XL is available with a choice of three engines, with their availability depending on the trim. The Chevrolet and GMC models also share their platform with the Cadillac Escalade. The Yukon XL is also available as the shorter Yukon, which corresponds to the Chevrolet Tahoe. The Yukon XL is a sibling to the Chevrolet Suburban, but while that model tends more toward midrange trims, Yukon buyers are more likely to consider the Denali trim, and the new Ultimate addition should be popular despite its higher price. This new trim includes such features as unique 22-inch wheels, full-grain leather upholstery in all three rows, open-pore wood, 18-speaker Bose audio, and 16-way massaging front seats. The full-size GMC Yukon is mostly unchanged for 2023, but adds a new Denali Ultimate trim, building on the already-luxurious top-line level.
